With colder months approaching, you may find that you’re spending more time indoors. This year more than ever, though, staying at home has become imperative to keeping in good health. Maintaining your independence at home is of utmost importance, especially when moving around your house without pain or discomfort. That’s why, in this blog post, we break down what you need to know about the best stairlifts on the market.

Stairlifts help thousands of people across the UK who would otherwise struggle to move up and down their stairs. It can be incredibly frustrating when reduced mobility affects how you use your home, so making the decision to install a stairlift can give you the freedom to not only get up and down the stairs with ease, but also enable you to potentially stay in your own home for longer.

Straight Stairlifts

Straight stairlifts are fitted to staircases with one flight and go straight up to the next level, without having to turn. These are the most common type of staircases in the UK.

At Countrywide Mobility, our straight stairlifts have a slimline design with folding arms, seat and footrest, so that when it’s not being used, it doesn’t need to take up too much space. There’s also the option to have a powered a seat and footrest, eliminating the need to bend down to fold them away. As well as this, they also have safety cut-out sensors, meaning that if there’s an object obstructing its path, the stairlift will automatically stop until the object is removed.

The swivel seat, which rotates with a 45- or 90- degree lock allows the user to sit down comfortably and the lap belt provides extra security. Plus, with a wireless remote control, the user can control the stairlift easily, moving it up and down by pressing buttons, once they are seated.

Straight stairlifts have a quick install time, meaning there will be minimal disruption to your day. If you’d like to find out more about the best stairlifts available, call our team on 01905 29950.

Bespoke Curved Stairlifts

A bespoke, curved stairlift can accommodate different designs of staircases, including half- or quarter-landings. They can be used to access more than one level, and due to the fact that each home is different, the rail system can be made specifically for your staircase.

Similarly to straight stairlifts, curved stairlifts have a slim, fold-away design, with the option to have a powered foldaway seat and footrest. They also have safety cut-out sensors, simple-to-use controls and a lap belt for extra safety. Powered hinge options are available, and the wireless remote control allows the user to have greater control over their ascent and descent.

Curved stairlifts are one of the best stairlifts for people with more than one level to their home, meaning any reduced mobility does not affect them using their house to the fullest.

Rental or Reconditioned Stairlifts

There is the option to rent a straight or curved stairlift, which may be the right option for those who are getting over a short-term injury, illness or operation. At Countrywide Mobility, rented or reconditioned stairlifts have an extended warranty available, as well as a free home survey to ensure the stairlift is the right fit for your home.

There’s no minimum contract and there’s just a one-off installation and removal charge. It’s possible to hire a stairlift from as little as £40 per month, with maintenance and servicing covered. Reconditioned stairlifts start at £895 fitted, and an extended warranty is available.
